Well, to some fairly great extent, so far as the financial industry is concerned, he's owned by the corporate sector - especially MBNA. I'd bet that he's simply signing off on choices that are being made for him, and he's just going along - there's always that pesky 25th Amendment if he doesn't play ball. And the donor class *owns* the Democratic Party - the working and middle classes have no representation in government. John Jay said long ago that "the people who own the country should run it" - and the Democrats have taken up that position just like their Federalist forebears.

If only SCOTUS & #AIA didn’t destroy the gold standard patent system (circa 1994-95). Antitrust is invaluable; but, typically the innovator gets the guillotine, the implementor gets the cheese. But, as with RGB, Breyer too was very much against IP. Labors of the Mind were a core feature of the Founders (Federalist Paper 42 & Art 1 of the Constitution). The only employment mentioned are “Writers & Inventors”. The only mention of a “Right”, too!

Matt, I am a huge fan of your reporting, but this article seems like a cheap shot that is unworthy of your previous work. You seem to argue that anyone who has ever worked for a big corporate law firm will be bad on antitrust even when they have no discernible record in that area. That's just sloppy and lazy. The truth is that Biden has done more to advance and breath life into our antitrust laws than any President in my lifetime.

He and the Democrats desperately need our support in this political environment. They are the only thing standing between this country and a truly dystopian future. Given that context, I am hugely disappointed that you would choose this moment to slander them. I truly thought you were better than this.

Social issues are not important compared to economic issues, in fact I think the ruling class uses them as a distraction so that we do not pay attention to how they are bleeding us dry. The decision by Bidens or Trumps handlers to appoint another crooked judge is far more important than anything CNN is talking about.
