You actually do have an error. Bose is allowed to market their SoundControl hearing aid as a hearing aid because they trailblazed a new class of self-fitting hearing aids through the FDA de novo process.

Every other unregulated, non-monopolized technology has plummeted in price. There is no reason hearing aids shouldn't be free of 'help' from the Feds. Note: we have paid many thousands of $'s under the current regime because if you can afford it, there is no alternative.

Why did you make this political? I'm so sick of people with TDS, it is ridiculous. I didn't see you mention that Trump went after Big Pharma and put in motion to reduce the price of some drugs here in the States; i.e. insulin costs 4 times more in US than Europe. Biden trashed everything Trump put in place for Americans. I sure would not call him incompetent, however, Biden most definitely could be called that and a rake for years. So stick to talking about Monopolies, like Big Pharma who is making billions off of COVID. Who is enabling that? No therapeutic plan of drugs were allowed in this country for over a year. CDC, NIH, Fauci seem to be hooked at the hip with Big Pharma; write about that. Inexpensive FDA approved drugs that were dirt cheap (Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine) were banned by CDC, FDA, AMA. Doctors were literally told not to use or loose their license. Look into Fauci's background with AIDS. He pulled the same thing then with Bactrim, which could have been used as a therapeutic. AIDS patients had to spend their own money for trials to get approval for use; Fauci/NIH did not do any trials, instead ATV was created by BigPharma. Look up Dr Risch article on this. "The Key to Defeating COVID already exists..." Also, listen to his interview with Mark Levin on Youtube on same subject.

How is this a problem when I just completed the purchase of latest hearing "devices" from Costco for $1400. That got me an exam from a trained technician, over the ear hearing aids that are bluetooth enabled (can be paired with my phone/tablet/smart TV etc) and are USB rechargeable (no batteries - ever). Comes with 180 day no-question return policy, 3 year warranty and two year replacement of lost or damaged hearing aids (one time per pair - but the tech told me they are replacing at no charge about 1 set a day - due to people accidentally yanking them out when taking off Covid masks. This is Costco a nationwide organization - not some back alley operation - so if monopoly power was that strongly entrenched, how do they manage to get away with this? I did sign a boilerplate waiver that they were not providing medical advice or services, etc etc. My wife got her pair about 5 years ago, so I don't know about this instance you describe Matt

I have a feeling the only reason for this article is to praise Biden.

That makes me sad, because using a serious issue like cost of hearing aids to elevate Biden's 'struggle vs the deep state' is just wrong.

This is truly a poorly written and poorly researched article. Too many inaccuracies to even make an attempt to clarify and correct. Shame for publishing this Mr Stoller. Do better research next time rather than simply babbling to support a political agenda.

Whoa, adjustable microphone like hell! Try using earbuds on you cellphone and adjusting the frequency response with a equalizer. Works very well if both ear canals are totally occluded.

The 1/2 (500 millisecond) delay from the crappy audio processor will otherwise drive you crazy.

Granted, a high speed audio processor SPIC shouldn't cost over $50, but anything less WON'T WORK.
